HMT Kingston Cairngorm

Built in 1935 by Cook, Welton & Gemmel and owned wned by the Kingston Steam Trawling Co. Ltd., this 448 ton vessel was owned at the time of her loss by British Royal Navy and used during the second world war as an armed anti-submarine trawler equipped with one 4 inch deck gun. On the 17th October 1940, whilst serving with the 27th anti-submarine group based at Portsmouth she struck a mine and sank. Distance from Weymouth 19 miles.
